Nokia Threat Intelligence Report 2025

Nokia’s 11th Threat Intelligence Report, based on operational data and insights from over 160 CSP security professionals, and its Bell Labs Research highlights a shift in telecom attack trends. The report emphasises the increasing targeting of telecom core infrastructure, the prevalence of short-duration DDoS attacks, and the rise of living-off-the-land attacks. It also highlights the evolution of malware tailored to telecom infrastructure and the growing impact of state-actor-driven attacks on critical infrastructure.

The analyst brief was led by Dr Srinivas Bhattiprolu, VP of Global Pre-sales and Advanced Consulting Services in Nokia CNS, who reviewed the overall CSP threat. Jerome Meyer, a security researcher in Nokia Deepfield, looked in detail at the escalating threat from DDoS attacks on networks, AI security and post-quantum security.

Nokia clearly has reason to differentiate its offer from the wider set of IT security solutions. In contrast to last year’s report, there was much more clarity on the differences and needs of security professionals in CSPs.

Appledore was able to have a follow-up call with Nokia, where we were able to go deeper on how Nokia is specifically addressing the issues highlighted in the report.
