The disaggregation of integrated functions and appliances is one of the key trends shaping the future of telecom. Enabled by cloud, but also industry efforts to open and standardize previously internal interfaces (such as through the Open RAN movement), disaggregation is also changing the telecom vendor landscape. In this research module we track how this towards disaggregated networks, open interfaces and new ecosystems is developing.
