Inflexion has made its first purchase in the software automation domain with the purchase of MycomOSI. The addition of MycomOSI does not currently complement other portfolio companies in the Inflexion portfolio. Financial consideration was not disclosed. The Wall Street Journal has estimated the deal at USD 128 Million . MycomOSI develops and sells directly Automated Service Assurance solutions to large tier 1 CSPs in Europe, North America, and MEA. Some of its customers include Deutsche Telekom, Globe, Reliance Jio, Safaricom, Sprint, STC, Telefónica, Three UK, Telenor, T-Mobile, Verizon and Vodafone.

Appledore Research believes MycomOSI, has redeveloped its platform to be cloud native which enables the company to offer its solutions in a SaaS model. Other service assurance companies have also moved to a cloud native architecture including Netscout, Red Hat, VMWare, IBM, Ciena Blue Planet, and Nokia. Appledore Research believe that the MycomOSI platform could form a natural basis for a wider portfolio of cloud native “as a service” OSS. Areas of potential synergy could include policy management and orchestration, to support the current need for lower operational cost and higher levels of automation in telcos. The rational underpinning the deal focused on:

  1. Acceleration into the cloud and launch of SaaS offering
  2. New geographic markets where Inflexion operates other portfolio companies including China and other countries in Asia
  3. Opening new markets for MycomOSI in the Enterprise sector
  4. Closed Loop Automation particularly in supporting the role out of 5G.

Stuart Robinson Partner at Inflexion will be on board of directors.
