Joe Skorupa at Gartner proclaims that NFV is dead! Is Joe right or did he just change the definition statement? Yes NFV fired a blank from its lofty goals back in 2012 but its 7 years later and revenue is coming online albeit in a different delivery method. That’s the beauty of cloud and virtualization. You don’t need to design and plan for the known but instead the unknown. Because business models emerge and disappear as technology advances. Proof points here this week in The Hague include companies that did not exist back in 2012 that have strong viable business models. This includes Noviflow, Ngena, and Canopus. All use programmable switching, cloud native virtualization, and high speed telemetry for traffic classification at terabit scale.
