NTIA RIC Forum

NTIA RIC Forum

In April 2024 the US government’s NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration) convened its first RIC Forum, a conference on the next steps to delivering the Open RAN RIC. The forum invited presentations and demonstrations with a focus on two particular use cases (energy management, and traffic steering) and giving priority to those demonstrating practical applications in both commercial and US DoD contexts.

This Research Note provides summaries and commentary from the three-day event, which featured 18 different presentations and demonstrations from major open RAN players such as AT&T, Mavenir, Capgemini, Juniper, Viavi, Microsoft as well as specialists, and industry bodies such as the Telecom Infra Project, and the Open Networking Foundation.
