In 2023, the cause of network APIs received another boost, in the form of the GSMA/Linux Foundation Open Gateway/CAMARA initiative. But this was only the latest in a sequence of industry attempts to allow offer telecom network services to be embedded in third party applications, via APIs. In this research we look at the current landscape of network APIs, and compare the different offers being made to, and by, telecom operators. Also – to understand the potential value of this new way to consume telecom services.
