Infrastructure suppliers have not reported any material impacts as a result of supply chain disruptions for components as a result of Covid-19. The key infrastructure suppliers to CSPs include Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, Ciena, and Juniper Networks. Factories in China are coming back online after a successful containment strategy of Covid-19.
- Huawei manufacturers almost all of its products in China.
- Ericsson and Nokia had 45% and 10% respectively of it manufacturing capabilities in China. Nokia diversified its manufacturing to limit supply chain disruptions. Its Oulu factory which uses Omron mobile robot solutions and a private LTE network in the smart factory produces 1,000 base stations per day.
- Cisco diversified it manufacturing away from China beginning about five years ago. In May Cisco cut production in China driven mostly by higher import tariffs levied by the Trump trade war with China.
- Ciena uses 3rd party contract manufacturers in Canada, Mexico, Thailand, and the United States.
